Schedule Adjustments

We are in the process of balancing class sizes and assuring all student's academic needs are being met. In doing so, some student's schedules may be affected. We will do our best to make these changes without disrupting their entire schedule. Any elective misplacement will be addressed in the next week. We will make every effort possible to accommodate requests, depending on availability. Thank you for your patience.

How Do We Communicate With You?


Dear Wildcat Families, 

Welcome to the 2014-15 school year. The year is off to a great start and we want to make sure to keep you in the loop on all the amazing, fun, and interesting things happening around campus. Here are a few of the ways that we communicate with you.


All Calls/All Call Email – Periodically we will be sending all calls/ all call emails home in the evening.  We use this communication method to give important announcements about school events, registration, and school safety.  The phone numbers and email addresses we use originate from the emergency card you filled out at the beginning of the year.


Parent Portal – This website allows you to see how well your student is doing in their classes.  Go to www.rms.vistausd.org and click on parent portal on the left hand side.  The direct address is https://parents.vistausd.org/LoginParent.aspx?page=default.aspx .  You will need your email and password to log in. 


Peachjar – Is a website for any organization to post flyers online for Roosevelt Middle School students. Go to www.rms.vistausd.org, and click on the Peachjar link on the left hand side.


PTA – We have an amazing PTA led by our president, Sherry Corona.  They have their own PTA Peachjar page and PTA page on our school website.  You can access them by going to www.rms.vistausd.org


Roosevelt Middle School Webstore – You can purchase planners, ASB cards, yearbooks, and PE clothes online!  Go to www.rms.vistausd.org, and click on the Roosevelt Middle School Webstore link on the left hand side.  The direct address is http://webstores.activenetwork.com/school-software/roosevelt_middle_sch/ 


School Website – Go to www.rms.vistausd.org to see our awesome website.  It will have important announcements as well as contact e-mails and phone numbers for our staff.  We have links to the bell schedule, free and reduced online meal application, parent portal, the Roosevelt Middle School Webstore, and Peachjar.


Twitter – Follow us on Twitter “Roosevelt Middle @RooseveltMiddl2”.  You can go to our main web page and click on the FOLLOW button next to the Twitter Icon on the front page.  We will post a picture of the day as well as give important information.

Safety Announcement


The safety of our students continues to be a priority for our school. 

Here are a few reminders to ensure our student will be safe at Roosevelt.



  1. Please follow all crosswalk signals. 
  2. Those students riding bikes must wear a helmet, and walk their bike to the crosswalk on Mesa.
  3. Please respect our neighbors property at all times.
  4. We will be e-mailing you a map of the traffic flow for the parking lot.  Please follow this traffic plan.

Registration dates for the fall will be as follows:


*August 6 -  6th grade students

*August 7 - 7th grade students

*August 8 - 8th grade students


The registration times for these dates will be from 8:00 am to 11:45 am for returning/current students.  Registration times for these dates for students new to the district will be from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm.  By providing an online registration process for our families, we hope to streamline registration and reduce the time spent standing in line.

School Safety Changes

“Improvements to School Safety Practices on the Way”

There is nothing more important to us as a district than the safety of our school communities, and to improve in this area, changes have been made to district board and administrative policy.  To ensure the smooth implementation of these changes, we believe it is important to communicate at both the district and site levels, so this is the first of several communications about this topic as we move toward implementing these changes over the next few months.

Our Districtwide emphasis on school safety includes the following:

  • Before and after school, only students and staff will be allowed inside the campus perimeter.
  • Parents can access staff, as they normally would, via the sign in/sign out procedure in the office for meetings and other routine needs. 
  • The gates to our school will be locked promptly at 8:05am
  • While in session, school perimeters will be secure and locked.
  • During arrival and dismissal, open gate areas will be supervised.
  • Employees will wear their employee badges.
  • Student release during the school day will be standardized and is as follows:
    •   Students shall be released during the school day only to the custody of an adult in possession of a valid, government issued photo identification card and if:
      • The adult is the student’s custodial parent/guardian
      • The adult has been authorized on the student’s emergency card as someone to whom the student may be released with authorization from the custodial parent/guardian or when the custodial parent/guardian cannot be reached, and the principal or designee verifies the adult’s identity
      • The adult is an authorized law enforcement officer acting in accordance with law
      • The adult is taking the student to emergency medical care at the request of the principal or designee

We want to thank our community for sharing this value of safety, and though some of procedures may take some getting used to, they are for the benefit of our students, staff, and parents.
